Three moons rising over the mountains of an alien planet...

Terragen and photoshop. Not the best, but it makes a reasonable WP.

What can be said upon first analysis of this planet? Judging by the extreme angle of the scree slopes, this planet has a very low gravity. I would not be surprised to find that it is not in fact a planet at all, but a rather large asteroid, perhaps 800km - 1200km in diameter, with an artificially created and maintained atmosphere. But then, what do I know? : -)

Actually, its diameter is closer to 16,000km. It could also be this is a highly active seismic area. The banded area does not show a great deal of internal breakdown yet. I would guess the face is less than 10,000 years old. With the water in close proximity, I would have expected to see some vegetation along the water's edge unless the water his highly acidic or otherwise unable to provide nutrients to small plant life. Unfortunately, I haven't spent enough time in the area to understand the underlying geology.

I would very much like to visit. Are there any transports available?

You'd have more luck with a tramp steamer...

I hear the stool of the guanga from Shen'Tok Ree (see my gallery under other for description of planet)rubbed on the lips works wonders to get rid of them, but you get called Lois Lipshitz until it clear up. ;)

I'm just following your lead here. I love having silly conversations about things that don't truly matter to the future existence of mankind on this little speck in the universe. :)

Incredibly high albedo to the satellite(?) in the upper left. It makes me wonder what morphology the surface (assuming that this is representative and not a captured flash) has undergone that it might be so shiny. No way to tell without the right instruments.

As an aside, I don't usually like digital work as it is 'so easy' (in my humble opinion), but you have captured my imagination, and with it my prejudice has disappeared. I stand corrected.

I'm sure the local scientific community has studied and come to conclusions--if the inhabitants are more advanced than stick thumpers. On the other hand, it could be an artificial satellite doing scientific measurements of the planet by an alien race. What must the locals think?
